Kumari Selja, the senior Congress leader and Member of Parliament from Sirsa, has urged the Centre to approve and fast-track key rail infrastructure projects for the region, arguing that improved railway connectivity is essential for economic development and regional integration. She has specifically called for the construction of two new rail lines — Sirsa–Rania–Tibbi and Sirsa–Bhadra — to enhance access and mobility for people and goods in the border areas adjoining Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan. Selja has emphasised that these lines would not only boost socio-economic growth, support agricultural and commercial activities, and ease travel for residents, but also strengthen Sirsa’s role as a regional transport hub. Her demand reflects longstanding local calls for better rail infrastructure to address connectivity gaps and bring long-term development benefits to western parts of Haryana and neighbouring states.
